• Compulsory English Preparatory Class Exemption Exam

Purpose of the Exam

• To determine the English proficiency levels of the students who enrol in the Faculty of Science, Mathematics Department (English) and Western Languages and Literatures, English Language and Literature Program.

Target Group

• Students of the Faculty of Science, Mathematics Department (English) and Western Languages and Literatures, English Language and Literature Program students who enrol in our university in the 2025-2026 academic year and cannot certify their language proficiency.
• Students who fail the English preparatory class in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Date of Exam

• September 22^nd, 2025 (Monday)

Time of Exam

• 1^st Stage (Paper Based): 10.00 AM
• 2^nd Stage (Writing): 14.00 PM

Duration

• 1^st Stage (Paper Based): 120 minutes
• 2^nd Stage (Writing): 45 minutes

Content of the Exam

• The exemption exam aims to measure students` grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing skills. The exam has 2 stages. Students who get sufficient scores in the first stage exam take the second stage exam. In order to be successful in the first stage, minimum score of 70 is required. In order to be successful in the second stage, minimum score of 50 is required.

Exam Rules

• Students taking the exam are supposed to be at the exam hall at least 30 minutes before the exam starts.
• It is compulsory to use pencil in the exam.
• Entering the exam with a mobile phone and leaving during the exam is not allowed
• To participate the exam students are supposed to have their passports/identification cards and student certificates.

Exam Fee

• Free of charge. No certificate is given to students at the end of the exam.

Statements

• Students who are failed in the exam or do not participate in the exam will study English preparatory class at ÇAKÜ DİLMER for one year.
• Students who pass the exam will be able to select their 1^st year courses through ÇAKÜ e-campus (https://ekampus.karatekin.edu.tr) and get them approved by their advisors on between September 23^rd and September 30^th, 2025. This will allow them to attend 1^st year courses.
